On 15 August 2008, we had the 10th klenengan in the 7th fiscal year running. It was held at the home of Dr. Rahayu Supanggah in Benawa. It started at about 8:00 pm and lasted until 2:30 am. As is normal, there will be 11 klenengan in the year, so there is one more klenengan in this fiscal year.

The official organizer of gendhing this month was Pak Yadi. Each month we are now appointing someone to organize the 2-3 gendhing that are planned. They choose the gendhing and organize the notation—or mas Wakidi organizes the notation if necessary. Beyond the 2-3 gendhing they organize, the rest of the gendhing are unplanned as usual.

The klenengan was very quiet and sedated. Many people were busy with Independence Day celebration rehearsals and preparations. Pak Panggah himself was overseas in Switzerland. Pak Yadi had planned the longest gendhing “in the book”, Gd Gonjang Anom, and that helped lend to the pretty sedate and serious atmosphere in the beginning. Even to almost the very end it was a quiet and “halus” sort of klenengan. Then for the last gendhing mas Wakidi asked Pak Mujiono to play ciblon and things got a little crazy from there to the end.

The last klenengan of this fiscal year will probably be the weekend of 20 September, which is during the fasting month. We normally don’t do a klenengan during fasting, but we’re behind one klenengan, October is already very busy, and we don’t want to get too behind again at the very beginning of the fiscal year. We can use that opportunity to give out the Lebaran bonuses. The gendhing organizer will be Bp. Darsono “Jepang”. So far we have had the following gendhing organizers, in order:
