Klenengan Pujangga Laras

On December 26th, we had the second official klenengan in the 8th year of the Pujangga Laras klenengan. The klenengan was held, as it is at least once yearly, at the home of our beloved Bp. Midiyanto in Eromoko, Wonogiri. Bp. Midiyanto has been a teacher to so many foreigners, and continues to hold a special place in so many of the subscribers’ hearts, and we are always so happy to be able to hold the klenengan at his home when he is back for the break.

Bp. Midiyanto was the organizer of the gendhing, and requested Gd Bn Babar Layar, Gd Loro2 Gendhong (koor Semarangan), and Kalunta.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend, as I was in the USA for the Christmas holiday. Mas Wakidi took complete charge, along with help from mas Furqon (took notes for the report) and Rachel Hand (made the recording). The notes below are from mas Furqon’s very detailed notes to me.

The klenengan was extremely lively, and supplemented with a fair amount of liquid spirit, so that evidently everyone was feeling quite free and unconstrained. As many musicians attended as possible, although the two-hour trip to Eromoko always limits the number who end up coming.
