Year 13, #6
30 July 2015 On Thursday, 30 July 2015 we had the sixth klenèngan in the 13th year of Pujangga Laras, only 10 days after the last klenèngan. It was a special event, organized in collaboration with and at the home of master musician Bp Saguh Hadiraharjo of Pakis, Delanggu. Bp Saguh was a major player in Ki Nartosabdo’s troupe Condhong Raos, and directs Ngriptoraras, a troupe of musicians who formerly played with the late Ki Mujoko Joko Raharjo and whose descendants are still active klenèngan and wayang musicians. The musicians were supplied by Bp Saguh and the pieces determined by his group. This was a very special evening, with a strong feeling of connection and friendly, nostalgic collaboration between Bp Saguh and Bp Wakidi. As is always the case, there were some pieces that were more successful than others due to unusual circumstances, unexpected guest players, and negotiation between musicians, but in all ways it was a wonderful evening!
